Born in Nelson in 1969, Chris has been working in the design & advertising industry for over 20 years, since graduating from Wellington Polytechnic School of Design in 1990. He has held positions in some of New Zealand’s most respected creative agencies including, DNA Design, Clemenger BBDO, Saatchi & Saatchi, and Red Cactus Design to name a few. And with that comes a wealth of experience and skill in graphic design, typography and Photoshop retouching.
Chris has developed brand and creative execution for a range of companies and organisations in both Nelson and Nationally, often teaming up with other talented people - strategists, writers, web developers - to ensure the strategy is sound; the objectives are being met; the work is fantastic; that the job is delivered within budget and everything happens on time.
Chris has won a number of international awards including Cannes Integrated Lion 2006 - World Press Photo Exhibition (Campaign Typographer), BEST Awards 2005 - Sink F69 Poster Campaign (Best in Category), AXIS Awards 2004 - Outward Bound Print Campaign (Typography & Craft).
Currently he balances his work as a designer with building a reputation as an artist. He lives in central Nelson, with his wife and two children.
“Chris is the best designer I’ve ever worked with. His wealth of experience results in a rare clarity for taking an idea from the briefing stage through to final design offering the professionalism and design finesse of a large creative agency while providing the focus of a single point of contact. Chris has made significant contributions to nationwide projects including the New Zealand Cycle Trail and the Ministry for Culture & Heritage plus international projects for the Cook Islands Tourism Corporation”.
